			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>I mentioned at the closing of year-end that I was setting up a number of new features, and today I&#8217;m going to start rolling some of them out.</p>
<p>Over the next few weeks there will be more, including a completely new blog design.</p>
<p>O.K., here goes:</p>
<p>For starters, my sign up process is completely new.</p>
<p>When you sign into my website at kingofcopy.com, or from anywhere else inside the site, or from my blog, the series of e-mails you get is brand spanking new.</p>
<p>In these new e-mails you will also get access to a couple of really cool interviews I did, in print, that I&#8217;ve never revealed before.  There is some compelling personal and business information in there I know you&#8217;ll find interesting.</p>
<p>To get these interviews, just re-sign into my site at <a href="http://www.kingofcopy.com">http://www.kingofcopy.com</a> and you&#8217;ll receive them all over the next few days, and you&#8217;ll be privy to the new signup e-mails also.</p>
<p>Second, another new features is called &#8220;Ask Me, Baby!&#8221;  I will now be answering e-zine subscriber questions by video, probably once a week or so.  I enjoy making videos and they&#8217;re becoming easier to create and produce, so I think this will be a great benefit to you as well.</p>
<p>Plus, I can get away with saying things in person that I probably can&#8217;t get away with in print. </p>
<p>So &#8220;YES&#8221; I will be using the f-word and other things real grown-ups say in REAL life, not in internet-world.</p>
<p>Now let me warn you.  I anticipate getting loads of stupid questions to answer as well, and if it&#8217;s a stupid question, I&#8217;m going to very bluntly and candidly let you know on these videos, just how stupid you or your question may be.</p>
<p>But don&#8217;t worry, I won&#8217;t reveal any of your personal details or the fact that you are stupid, so you can still submit these questions knowing your dumbness is safe between us, and probably your immediate family.  (you can only hide so much from so many people)</p>

<p>For starters, I was overwhelmed with how many people sent well-wishes and just had really nice things to say.  Maybe I&#8217;m not as much of a hard-ass as I think I am.  Thank you for this.</p>
<p>Anyway, in addition to some great feedback, I also got a number of really cool questions that I thought I&#8217;d share with you today.  Here are a few of them:</p>
<p>*  &#8220;What better way to get just the right title to a book than to get from the horse&#8217;s mouth, eh?&#8221;</p>
<p>Yes, that&#8217;s the whole point.  If you know what your marketplace wants, then it&#8217;s certainly a lot easier to sell it to them, isn&#8217;t it?  Most people have no idea how much time I spend on market research, before I write any copy.  It&#8217;s not uncommon for me to spend maybe 16 to 24 hours on research alone, most of this reading or ordering things from competitors of clients, or reviewing and experiencing actual competitive products themselves, and their sales process. </p>
<p>This is really where all your work is done, and where all the ideas for your sales copy come from.  Remember, it&#8217;s all about pushing your prospects emotional buy-buttons first, then the rest is easy.</p>
<p>*   &#8220;Many of the titles you suggested have the word &#8220;Online&#8221; in them. I assume if you don&#8217;t want to use &#8220;Internet&#8221; in the title, the same reasoning would apply to &#8220;Online.&#8221; No?  Note #2: Maybe you can use Seductive Selling in the title to further brand yourself/your business.&#8221;</p>
<p>This is an excellent question, and it&#8217;s a comment several people made or alluded to.  Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s going on:</p>
<p>It&#8217;s been my observation when you put the words &#8220;internet marketing&#8221; together, you are attracting and speaking to much more of a business opportunity crowd.  My customers, for the most part, are very serious about their business at hand, they are NOT newbies, and they are smart enough to know the magic pill isn&#8217;t a magic pill, but a series of steps that evolve over time.</p>
<p>They are also smart enough to know that action makes things happen, first.  They aren&#8217;t coming to me for the latest smoke and mirrors voodoo, and if you notice, I don&#8217;t typically sell using lots of hype or other kind of nonsense.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m very direct, optimistic, empathetic and folksy.  Good, bad or indifferent, like it or not, but that&#8217;s who I am and that&#8217;s what my marketplace wants.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve also noticed &#8220;online&#8221; draws people who are a little more sophisticated and serious about themselves and their business.  See, in reality, the internet is simply a media, not an art form.  So when people say &#8220;internet marketing,&#8221; it&#8217;s as absurd, to some extent, as saying &#8220;newspaper marketing&#8221; or &#8220;direct mail marketing.&#8221;  To me, it just shows some naiveté on their part, as to what really makes emotional direct-marketing effective.  Those folks are clearly NOT my audience.   </p>
<p>As to using &#8220;Seductive Selling,&#8221; again, this is another great idea, but I&#8217;m holding it for my second book.  The next book is more about selling in print, and the Seductive Selling title is more appropriate and relevant here. </p>
<p>Great questions, again.</p>
<p>*  &#8220;Why not test using google adwords?&#8221;</p>
<p>Another great suggestion.  I am running Google AdWords testing right now as we&#8217;re speaking.  I wanted to use this survey to help me narrow down all the options somewhat, and it has definitely helped, as you&#8217;ll see when I show you the responses next week.  This is, by the way, what Timothy Ferriss did, to come up with the title of his best-seller, The 4-Hour Work-Week</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>Last week, Anne was at the grocery store and she sent me a one-word text: &#8220;rambutan.&#8221;</p>
<p>I sent her back a question mark because I had no clue what she meant.  It sounded like some sort of a command in a foreign language.</p>
<p>&#8220;Look it up.&#8221;</p>
<p>Turns out, a rambutan is a tropical fruit.  You can look it up on Wikipedia and see a picture of it, but that&#8217;s NOT what it looks like in real life.  In real life, it is probably the most disgusting looking edible item I&#8217;ve ever seen.  It looks like a red raw ping-pong ball, surrounded by thick dark greasy hair.</p>
<p>I know this is gross, but I&#8217;m probably being kind here.  Imagine the thought of eating it!</p>
<p>Anne said she brought it home because our daughter was curious about it and since we always encourage our kids to be open-minded, we always do things like this.  Here&#8217;s a hint, by the way, if you struggle with new ideas: if you can be open-minded and curious about things going on in your personal life, it&#8217;s very easy and natural to be open-minded and curious in business.</p>
<p>Well, here&#8217;s what happened with that rambutan.  After you slice around that ugly shell with a thin sharp knife, what pops out is a soft bouncy pearly-white fruit that tastes like a grape.  Not only was it an interesting experience, but the fruit was quite tasty.</p>
<p>See, sometimes it&#8217;s just not fair to judge something or someone, simply by looking at their exterior.</p>
<p>And other times, of course, it works the other way around:  A beautiful flower is toxic to the touch.  Or, a beautiful woman is toxic to your touch as well.</p>
<p>Either way, appearances can often be misleading as you know.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a wonderful story that illustrates this. <p>Here&#8217;s that story:  It&#8217;s called &#8220;The Cracked Pot&#8221;</p>
<p>A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which he carried across hls neck.</p>
<p>One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master&#8217;s house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.</p>
<p>For a full 2 years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water in his master&#8217;s house.</p>
<p>Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made.</p>
<p>But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.</p>
<p>After 2 years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Why?&#8221; asked the bearer. &#8220;What are you ashamed of?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master&#8217;s house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don&#8217;t get full value from your efforts,&#8221; the pot said.</p>
<p>The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, &#8220;As we return to the master&#8217;s house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path.&#8221;</p>
<p>Indeed as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer for its failure.</p>
<p>The bearer said to the pot, &#8220;Did you notice that there were flowers only on YOUR side of your path, but not on the other pot&#8217;s side? That&#8217;s because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you&#8217;ve watered them.</p>
<p>For 2 years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master&#8217;s table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house.&#8221;</p>
<p>Moral:  Each of us has our own unique flaws. We&#8217;re all cracked pots in one way or another.</p>
<p>Some of us don&#8217;t grow old gracefully, some are not so smart, some are tall, large &amp; big, some bald, some physically challenged, but it&#8217;s the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve just got to take each person for what they are, and look for the good in them. There is a lot of good out there. There is a lot of good in you!</p>
<p>Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.</p>
<p>Remember to appreciate all the different people in your life! Or as I like to think of it &#8211; if not for the crackpots in my life, it would be pretty boring.</p>
