You can't even make everyone that's in your life happy all the time, so how can you possibly sell to them all?

So put away your optimism and let's talk about reality. The truth is, there's one thing that is in your control and that is your choice of customers. Deliberately choosing the right customers in the first place, is half the battle for most people.

The more you just "take anyone who comes along" into your prospecting funnel, the more you waste your time.

Which is one of the problems with the internet, by the way. It offers you the least amount of prospecting control of almost any media. Not that I don't like it, or profit from it as a media, but that's just the way it is.

So how do you choose the right customer? What makes someone pre-qualified and what makes them unqualified to buy from you?

The answer is simple. There are three things, actually:

1. They have to have money. Broke people or people too broke to buy from you won't pay your bills or feed your children. So stay away from them.

Repel them like skunk odor, and do everything in your power to avoid contact with them -- at least, if you're trying to run a profitable business, anyway.

2. You have to be able to reach them through your marketing. So for example, if you've developed something for undercover FBI agents or NFL football players, I don't care how valuable your widget is, it's gonna be tough to sell, simply because these two marketplaces aren't very accessible.

3. And lastly, the people you're selling to have to be comfortable buying through whatever media you're using. For instance, there are some people who just won't buy anything online, so unless you give them an alternative way of ordering, it's going to be difficult to make them your customers.

Make sense?

This is an important subject that gets very little attention. Most people just think in terms of volume. You know, "Throw enough shit up against the wall and something's bound to stick," sort of mentality.

And that's all well and good if you've got infinite dollars to spend on marketing and you don't care how much time you waste, but since most successful people value their time more than anything else in the world, this really isn't a good option.

(You can always make more money, but you can't make more time, right?)

See where I'm going with all this?

There are a few more characteristics you should look for to find the best quality prospects, and over the next few days we'll talk about some of them.

Hopefully... you'll listen.

Now go sell something , Craig Garber

P.S. In this month's Seductive Selling Newsletter, I answer these three critical lead-generation questions, sent in by members:

* How long (or short) can these "free reports" or sales letters be?

* What proportion of content should be included? And...

* How can you give away good content without giving away all the good stuff in what you’re selling?

Find out the answers to these questions, and a hell of a lot more, and take your free test-drive at http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl

***

Questions? You can check it out here on this page, right underneath the video.

http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting/webinar

Attending this workshop is literally the most important thing you will do for yourself, not just in 2009, but in your entire business lifetime. That's not a flippant or hype-filled statement either.

After all, how many money-making techniques do you learn, that will never go out of style... never be subject to technological impediments... and never fail to work, regardless of who you're selling to or where your marketplace is.

Human nature hasn't changed much since the dawning of time and I don't think it's going to change any time soon. And that's what this workshop is really all about. Here is that link, again:

http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting/webinar

Now go sell something , Craig Garber

P.S. Like I said, there are few things in life you will do, that will actually put money in your pockets forever. Hope you realize this is one of them. But there again, "hope" really isn't a good business strategy, now is it?

http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting/webinar

***

Questions? So regardless of what's been going on -- if we've had some stress with the kids or whatever -- leading up to that time, I like to make nice. Eating humble pie is very appropriate here.

I figure, if you can't get along with your spouse on New Years Eve, you've got lots of problems in store for you over the next 12 months.

And I hate problems, and I do love my wife dearly, so this all makes sense, right?

I also have this strange belief that whatever you're doing on New Years Eve, or whatever kind of karma is going on around the 31st of December and the 1st of January, sort of dictates the tempo for the remainder of the year.

I know, I know... this is absolutely stupid. Kind of like believing what your psychic told you, but like I said, this is about superstitions, not about the latest scientific findings revealed in Discover Magazine this month.

So for me, that means I like to make some money during this time, and I like to be romantic with my wife (Hey, I'm trying really hard to keep this PG-rated.). Yes, this is sort of an extension of my first superstition, but this is MY wacky thought-process, so I'm allowed, right?

This year I was fortunate that I was able to not have to deal with stupid thoughts about how I didn't blow any good fortune I'm deserving of, because I wasn't able to adhere to my 2 silly superstitions.

How about you? Do you have any superstitions?

Any silly rituals that you try and obey from time to time?

If so, let me know and post them up on my blog at http://blog.kingofcopy.com

Later on this week, I'll let you know about a few new cool things you can expect out of me and from my website. Call them 2009 upgrades if you want, or... just call them... things you need to take advantage of.

Now go sell something , Craig Garber

P.S. This afternoon or tomorrow I'll be sending you the complete outline of all the material I'll be presenting at my Emotional Copywriting & Ad Writing Workshop here in Tampa in less than two weeks. You won't want to miss this - I finished putting everything together late last night, and it is nothing shy of incredible. There are probably close to 500 different strategies you'll be getting, to make a small fortune with. The information's at http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting and I'll get you the complete listing later.

***

Questions? Now the steel industry is seeking a bailout.

Who's next?

Well, I have my own suspicions about who's next -- let me share them with you. Today, I'm giving you the Top 10 Industries Seeking A Bailout In 2009.

1. Multi Level Marketers.

Premise: Since everyone in America has already been approached to sell the newest goop, cleaning fluid, and berries that heal everything from ass acne to arthritis, they have no one left to sell anything to. They need money to find new ways of rapidly increasing the population so there are new people to farm into the system and new South American rainforests to destroy, that will yield bumper crops of unusual-sounding new organic products.

If they don't get this money -- and get it now... they reckon that by 2017, literally everyone in Maine, California and Shimoken, Pennsylvania, will have seen the exact same recruiting DVD.

2. Realtors.

They need money because their job is to sell your property and yet... they don't know the first thing about selling. Newsflash: "This is the living room..." "Wow, look at all that counter space in the bathroom..." and "Oh -- it looks like they need to replace these carpets!" is NOT selling!

Realtors are no more than glorified order takers and if they don't get their hands on some extra moola -- and fast -- they'll all be forced to go back into MLM (or working for McDonalds).

3. McDonalds. Apparently, since there are now more fat people in America, than in every single other country, combined (including Kazakhstan), McDonalds is running out of people to sell new stuff to!

"Unless we are able to sink a ton of money into our advanced team of global research analysts, to find out the next biggest addictive food product for all these fat people to eat, we will be forced to layoff our entire staff," said Mayor McCheese in a recent interview.

Parents all over America are terrified, because when this happens, all their teenaged kids will no longer have a place to go and they may end up spending more time at home.

4. Squeegee Window Washers.

Sadly, these guys were just never able to recover from the crazy fuel prices of '08, which kept 74.6% of Americans at home and off the road. And... away from the squeegee men.

The SWU (Squeegee Workers Union) says if they don't get money -- and get it fast -- they will be forced to move into MLM. And Lord only knows the problems those guys are having, right?

5. Politicians.

A recent study shows that although these guys are still as sneaky as ever, there is now... actually... no more money... to steal!

What the hell are these guys going to do with all this extra time on their hands?

Wait, I know... they'll get back into real estate and MLM!

6. Escort Services.

Although it hasn't been 100% confirmed that our nation's escorts are "going down" (ha, ha) any time soon, this is just a precaution in case politicians really do run out of money.

7. Loan Officers.

Sure, there are loads of folks who want to buy homes, but apparently... the banks... have no money... to lend!

What happened to all the money the banks received in their bailout, you ask?

Good question.

Here's the answer: No one knows!

Presto change-o -- how the hell does $250 Billion Dollars vanish so easily? These guys are better than David Blaine!

All I know is, if loan officers can't start making new loans ASAP, they're going to get back into real estate, and somehow I really don't think this is going to solve any problems, do you?

8. Porn Stars.

Apparently, people are so depressed over their financial crisis... oops, wait a minute. Let's start over and call a spade a spade here.

Apparently, men are so depressed over their financial position, they've stopped watching porn. What are all these adult actors and actresses going to do?

I mean, think about all the years of training and the time they've put in to boning their craft -- oh, sorry, I meant "honing" their craft. It just doesn't seem fair?

Plus, with all these people out of work, it is now feared that "trickle down" economics says that plastic surgeons in California, are going to be feeling the effects of this one, right away! Not to mention, over 69% of all internet sites are selling this stuff - can America possibly afford the destruction of 69% of the internet?

I shudder to think what would happen here, so support the porn star bailout, immediately.

9. Lawyers.

One of the most incredibly self-centered of all businesses, for years they've been ripping us off and sticking it to everyone, indiscriminately. In fact, statistics show you've got a better chance of hitting the numbers, than having your attorney return your phone call the same day you made it.

But now, even these guys are suffering -- no joke. For example, people are filing for divorce and then pulling the plug on and deciding to just "live separately" in the same household.
(I kid you not!)

Why?

The answer is simple: typically, when people get divorced, their lawyers, who can't even balance their own checking accounts, suddenly have the financial acumen of Alan Greenspan and come up with a detailed 10-year regression analysis of how to "fairly" split up all the assets, the retirement plans, savings, and kids college education funds... along with stripping all the equity out of the divorcing couple's home. Today, since there are no more assets, retirement plans, savings, and equity in their homes -- there's nothing left for the lawyers to pick apart!

They're like vultures feasting on dead bodies -- only the dead bodies in this case, died years ago and there's no more meat to be found -- anywhere!

The problem is, if these guys don't get work -- and soon -- they'll start getting angry. And having thousands of angry lawyers running around, may very well be the one single worst thing for humanity as we know it, than having thousands of angry ex-husbands and wives running around.

True?

So please Mr. Big Man whoever decides who gets the bailout money -- please throw these guys a few bucks. If anyone can start a revolution (and then force you to hire them to end it), it's lawyers.

And who does decide who gets all this money, anyway? And have you noticed the big lesson in human dynamics, that applies directly to your business?

Come here and listen closely: One of the biggest things you need to concern yourself with, when it comes to controlling your customers and clients, is your positioning. See, once you "slack off" a little bit, or once you do something over and above what you should be doing... or as soon as you let something slide even ONE time... your clients and customers now perceive that to be the norm.

Before you know it, they've come to expect this "benevolence" from you, as their divine right, not as a one time big exception to the rules.

Kind of like when you're dealing with your children, and you let one of them take a day off from school as a "mental health day." What happens next?

Suddenly they think "mental health days" are part of the rotation, right? They're booking them into the calendar like teachers book "teacher work days."

Not good!

If you notice, the same thing's happened with the bailout.

In the beginning, it was like, "Whoa, these banks have some pair of balls asking for all that money. After all, it was their shoddy lending practices that created most of these problems, wasn't it?"

But alas, you thought this was a one-time exception, and since we're all basically forgiving and compassionate people, it was like, "O.K., we'll do what we gotta do. We don't want to see people thrown out of their homes, even if they did have some responsibility for it."

But now everyone's jumping on the band wagon. It's like, "Holy shit, we need cash, and we need it now! Let's get together with all our competitors -- yes, the same ones we spit on all year long and try to sabotage -- and get some money from the feds. All we need to do is show how loads of people are going to be out of work, fill out the Bailout Request Form (which I'll show you next week), have our PR people go to the New York Times... and we're in!"

Is this crazy, or what?

Meanwhile, who the hell's gonna pay all this money back? I mean, not for nothing, but shouldn't your charitable giving take place at YOUR discretion?

Lots of unanswered questions we'll never a handle on, for sure.

Anyway....

10. Lastly, health insurance companies.

If anyone is more unethical than politicians and lawyers, it's the health insurance companies. Imagine this: you got paid to do something every month, and then you turn around and tell your customers you're not going to do the very thing you're getting paid to do.

Weird, huh?

And to rub salt in the wounds, you have a team of legal experts on your side (see #9) who concocted a telephone book-sized of legal rules that not only explained (in language no one can understand) why you didn't have to do what you agreed to do, but made your customers feel like idiots for even thinking about asking for it.

Holy smokes, what a great business to be in!

Then, every year you get to raise your prices because you didn't want to do what you were supposed to do, even more!

Wow, kinda hard to imagine something like that existing, right?

Anyway, the health insurance companies need more money because since Uncle Sam has now conditioned everybody into believing they'll take care of you when you get older, when you need money, when you're depressed, when you're out of work, and when you're not healthy... more and more people are submitting claims!

I mean, while there are a small percentage of people who are genuinely sick, and this is by far, incredibly tragic and sad... why should the rest us have to go out and do annoying things to prevent this from happening?

After all, who wants to waste time doing something silly like, "Watch what you eat," or "exercising," when it's so easy to just submit a form to the insurance companies to cover all your doctors visits?

In fact, how the hell can I get my hands on some of these magic forms?

And how can all my clients and subscribers who are just fighting the good fight every day, just trying to make it, in spite of the fact they have too much to do and not enough time to do it in -- how can they get some free assistance?

If you have any of these answers, let me know on my blog or on my facebook page, because all I have are unanswered questions and a mountain of confusion.

Oh, and Happy New Year... buckle up and get ready for one hell of an exciting ride.

Or, one hell of big pile of shit to clean up.

I'm going to do something stupid right now, like workout or read a book.

Now go sell something , Craig Garber

P.S. Products, services, one-step selling... two step lead generation -- you got 'em all!

* Biggest copywriting mistake people make when trying to impress buyers about how "advanced" their product is. (Example 3)

* Another critical mistake commonly made in 2-step lead generation marketing (Example 5)

* When to use guarantees in your headlines!

* The best way to get people to understand and ultimately agree with your explanation of things (used in a very uncommon setting!)

* Everyone knows analogies are the life-blood of anyone trying to write good sales copy, right? Well, you'll get an idiot-proof and fail-safe formula to create analogies so everyone understands the points you're trying to make. You'll never be at a loss for comparison, after this method, that's been as reliable as a Swiss watch since I learned it 15 years ago!

* How to generate leads by "flagging" them down! (Example 10)

* In this month's "Copywriting Secrets" column, you'll get a breakdown of the 11 moving parts of a sales letter and a detailed breakdown of how to "close!"

* How to write a P.S. and 7 different real examples from actual copy I've created!

* In the Weekend Update News column: Print Advertising Down... Is this the secret to social media?... Cross-selling, upselling, and "reason to buy" champions... Twitter... The secret to growing old... self-published titles... and Cool URL's.

* And in Tales from the Back-End, you'll find out why we worry and how to stop it!

All this, and much much more, PLUS, my year-end holiday card... PLUS... this month's Audio Success CD of the month, where I interview Mavericks Coaching group member Bob Maunsell. Bob shows you how he took a foothold in an industry and created an extra $70,000 plus, with just a few postcard mailings.

Test-drive Seductive Selling for 30 days, and get 16 (REAL) bonus gifts with it, free at http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl

Make sure you watch the video and listen to the phone calls via the blue tab at the top, right-hand side of the page at http://www.kingofcopy.com/ssnl

Have a wonderful New Year! And you simply won't be able to get your hands on it, after tomorrow.

Here's just a few of the many things you can look forward to inside this month's issue, which is called "The Nostalgia Issue," because all the ads and examples in it are from the late 1960's and early 1970's:

* 16 (yep, count 'em) live marketing examples!

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. There's also a semi-nude photo of me on the front cover of this month's issue!

P.P.S. Just kidding about that photo.

***

Questions? Let's see what happens with it. If you find it thought-provoking, pass it around to as many people as you possibly can. Tweet the hell out of it, Share it on facebook, and shout it from the rafters.

Oh, and most important, let me know what you think. Do you agree with it or do you disagree?

Unconventional Author And Marketing Guru Predicts The Death Of Twitter In 2009

Author, copywriter, and direct-response marketing consultant Craig Garber, from kingofcopy.com, doesn’t claim to be a new media expert - but he is an expert at selling, and at pushing prospects’ emotional buy-buttons. And in a controversial move, Garber is predicting the death of the outrageously popular microblogging service, Twitter, in 2009.

According to Garber, here’s why Twitter is a waste of any serious marketer’s time:

Content - “If ‘content is king,’ as even entry-level marketers know, then Twitter’s limit of 140 characters doesn’t even get you started. It’s not possible to present an emotionally compelling story in just one or two sentences,” Garber notes.

Rapport - Twitter doesn’t facilitate the bonding that’s needed to stand out among all the buying options in today’s marketplace. “Rapport comes from getting to know someone on a more intimate level than ‘Who likes chicken?’ or ‘I am the Lord of cats,’ and all the other inane comments that make up the lion’s share of communication on Twitter,” Garber argues.

Trust - Effective marketing happens when rapport develops into relationships. “With skepticism at an all-time high, it’s critical to focus on credibility and believability,” says Garber. “This requires sharing meaningful information and having dialogue over time. The trivialities shared on Twitter do not build into anything else.”

Garber, who values time as his most precious commodity, says, “Twitter’s just an online water cooler for people who have too much time on their hands. It is NOT a viable marketing tool. And while some marketers claim they’re getting excellent results from Twitter, remember, you measure results in dollars, not in ‘followers.’ In fact, using Twitter makes you look broke and needy – as if you have nothing better to do with your time. Truly successful people are way too busy making money to go on Twitter and try to get attention by screaming louder than the next guy."

“I’ve never been afraid to buck trends, because being unconventional is what makes you money,” adds Garber, whose forthcoming book “Small List, Big Profits” reveals the 21 proven direct-marketing strategies he used to make over $578,000 from a small email list of less than 5,000 people. “It’s time someone spoke up and proclaimed that Emperor Twitter is wearing no clothes.”

To receive a free copy of a 54-minute audio interview with Craig
called “How to Be the Bright Ray of Sunshine Your Prospects are Desperately Searching For,” which explains how to form genuine relationships with prospective customers by solving their problems, simply go to kingofcopy.com/notwitter

# # #

If you want to download a pdf of this release, simply go here.

Look, I have nothing against Twitter, and the guys who created it are very sharp and perhaps on to something really huge.

But listening to the endless chatter of "Crunchy or creamy?" "Chocolate or vanilla?" "What scent do I buy my wife?" "What's my hubby's favorite color golf ball?"

Come on!

Guess what?

No one gives a shit! Most of Twitter is full of noise. How 'bout a filter or something like that? Preferably a "dummy" filter, if possible. Or a "people who love to hear themselves think out loud" filter. THAT would be great, no?

And remember, just because someone needs therapy, that shouldn't be everyone else's cross to bear.

Right?

Talk to you later, Craig Garber

***

Questions? And why on top of Christmas trees?

You haven't heard from me for a few days because frankly,
I'm taking some well-deserved time off. I'll send out an
e-mail later on this week, and maybe one or two early next
week, but really, I'm in relaxation mode.

Here's an interesting story about how angels came to adorn
the tops of Christmas trees. I promise you've never heard
this one.

Santa was off to a bad start one Christmas.

When four of his elves got sick, the trainee elves did not
produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began
feeling some pre-Christmas pressure.

Then, out of the blue, Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was
coming to visit, which stressed Santa out even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of
them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the
fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began loading the sleigh, one of the
floorboards cracked, and the toy bag fell to the ground and
all the toys were scattered.

So, frustrated and all worked up, Santa went in the house
for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went
to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the
cider and hidden all the liquor.

In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug,
and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over
the kitchen floor. Then, when he went to get the broom, it
turns out the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of
the broom.

But just then the doorbell rang. Frustrated and ready to
tear someone a new one, Santa marched towards the door and
yanked it open.

There stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.

The angel said very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa.
Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful Christmas tree
for you. Where would you like me to stick it?"

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the
Christmas tree.

Have a great holiday and enjoy your family.

Now go relax, Craig Garber

P.S. It's Friday and we're going to take it nice and easy. The holidays are coming up over the next couple of weeks and everybody's basically on "chill" mode.

First, a hilarious photo an old friend of mine sent me. It's a great snapshop of the American Auto Industry:

Second, if you haven't yet see it, the replay of this week's webinar, called "What Makes People Tick: How To Write Sales Letters And Ads That Make You A Small Fortune!" is now available.

Here are just a few of the many things I covered in there. I have probably received over 50 comments about the content and how valuable it was. We covered:

* Why people buy! Discover TEN emotional triggers and how to push them. (If you can't do this, you are literally dead in the water.)

* The FIVE reasons why people DON'T buy! (Pay close attention to these, for sure.)

* And how to put ALL this information together in some kind of a sales letter that actually works! (It's easy if you follow this simple sales letter writing formula I give you.)

You can watch the webinar right here:

http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting/webinar/replay/

Second, I am only 22 friends away from hitting 100 on my new facebook profile! I mentioned yesterday that I have a bet going with a friend of mine that I can hit 100 by the end of today, and I want to win!!!

So if you're on facebook, make sure you friend me at http://www.kingofcopy.com/facebook and help me out -- hook a brother up here!

Okey dokey, that's it.

Don't forget to check out the Ad Writing Webinar at http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting/webinar/replay/ and have a great weekend.

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. I told him that would be a cinch, but I need your help.

So if you are on facebook, can you just friend me by going to http://www.kingofcopy.com/facebook right now.

Then, come back and check out yesterday's Ad Writing Webinar at http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting/webinar/replay/

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. Start getting excited because the information on this call was so powerful and unique, if you have any business at all, you should be able to turn it into money, right away. Plus, no one has ever discussed these things, at all.

Again, that replay is at http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting/webinar/replay/

***

Check out ALL the King's products at http://www.kingofcopy.com/products

Friend me on Facebook at: http://www.kingofcopy.com/facebook

Comments? I've finished putting all the content together for the event, and all I'll say is make sure you have a pen and pad in front of you, because your head's going to be spinning if you don't.

This is NOT going to be for lightweights or for biz opp dreamers looking for a magic pill. It will, however, tremendously benefit anyone who writes copy, who struggles with their copywriting, and anyone who's looking for some insight into great strategies and marketing short-cuts.

There will be one final chance to sign up for this event, sent tomorrow morning early. To get the registration link, you need to be on my e-mail list.

I'm simply posting this to my blog for those folks who read the blog only. You can sign up for my e-mail list in the upper left-hand corner of any blog page.

Right now there are 579 people now signed up this 90-minute free webinar, called "What Makes People Tick: How To Write Effective Sales Letters And Ads That Make You A Small Fortune!"

The event takes place tomorrow at 12 noon, Eastern time.

In case you missed it, here are just a few of the many things we'll cover on this call:

* Why people buy! We'll discuss emotional triggers and how to push them. (If you can't do this, you are literally dead in the water.)

* The four reasons why people DON'T buy! (Pay close attention to these, for sure.)

* And how to put ALL this information together in some kind of a sales letter that actually works! (It's easy if you follow this simple formula I'll give you.)

Look, the year's coming to a close, and having information like this under your belt, is going to make 2009 and every year after that, a hell of a lot better for you, recession or no recession.

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. Most people spend a lifetime writing copy and TRYING to sell stuff, but they never even have a clue about how to really handle ANY of the items we'll be covering on this webinar. As a result, they never ever reach their potential and claim all the riches they deserve.

Don't let this happen to you. So sign up NOW, while it's fresh on your mind and before anything else comes up.

Then follow me on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/kingofcopy

Comments? I've become a bit of a recluse, so it's sort of like seeing what locals do when you're on vacation.

I especially like this during the Christmas season, because everything is so spirited and dressed up, and the energy level is just higher.

As I strolled down the candy aisles, grabbing a few holiday m & m packages and some Pez for my daughter, and I was taken back to an experience I had about 5 years ago.

I was walking past the souvenir shop in the Dallas Airport, on my way back home...

At the time I was living just outside Fort Lauderdale, and I really wasn't making any money yet. I dug into my pockets because I wanted to bring home some mints for my daughter -- I knew she'd like the small compact collector tin they came in. But when I pulled my hand out, all I had were two crumpled singles in my palm.

That's it, period.

Barely enough to buy a soda, and too light for the mints.

Remember, who you were has absolutely nothing to do with who you are or who you'll be, unless you make it that way.

The truth is, that's why I grabbed a handful of holiday candy when I was in the store last week. It just felt good to be able to do this.

For me, and for her.

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. See, the more lifelike something is, the more someone can picture themself using and owning it.

So for example, if you're a wedding photographer, don't sell the pictures, sell the memories.

Sell the lifetime of joy and warmth husband and wife will have, sharing these moments with their children and grandchildren, for years to come.

Talk about how proud they'll be every time they walk by their wedding photo in the hall, and how their friends will chuckle at it years later, because Craig had so much more hair back then.

And most important, let them know how important this day is to you. Because people don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care.

Make sense?

Good, so how do you do this?

Well, there are three things to know.

One, put your goods and services to use! Don't leave them collecting dust up on your prospects mental shelf, put them IN your prospects mental shelf, by placing them in their hands, eyes, and whatever else they need to experience things.

Two, think of the end benefits. People don't take pictures to take pictures, they take pictures to make memories. They don't plant flowers so they can sweat out in the yard for four hours in August.

Describe the impact of end benefits on a "gut" level. You know, what are the results?

And lastly, let your prospects have fun with whatever they're doing. When you can put a big smile across their face, you become their hero -- and they become your customer.

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. On the one had, she was filled with sadness over all the memories and loved ones she was leaving behind, but on the other hand, she knew she'd be joining her loving husband of 39 years, who'd passed just 6 months earlier.

And in this, she took comfort...

When you looked at the woman, even at her advanced age, and now close to passing, you could still see the vestiges of her beauty. Her once long blonde hair, was now grey, but still thick and strong.

And her eyes, although they now squinted, were the same shiny blue, sparkling in the sun. They were so lucid it was as if you could see the reflection of the waves splashing up against the rocks outside her window, when you looked at them.

And her figure, once the envy of many women, although now demure... was just as thin and lithe as it had always been.

Yes, she'd lived a great life, and now it was time to say goodbye to her sons and daughters, her grandchildren and even her friends and neighbors.

In her hushed but lovely voice, she spoke out one final time as she drew her last breath. Gently measuring her words, she said, "I have lived a long life, and I love you all so much. I regret nothing, and if you want the best advice I can give you, listen to an old lady when she says, 'Regret nothing.'"

"See, you are not your mistakes. And there are few mistakes you will ever make, that truly have any long-term effects. However, the regret of not doing something will haunt you forever, and this is a mistake you can never fix."

And with that, she was gone.

***

A valuable lesson, hopefully one you won't forget.

Second, remember that you can be the best copywriter in the world, but if you can't make your prospect feel something in just a few paragraphs, then all your talent and any sales skills you have, are meaningless.

People buy based on emotion, period. Remember that.

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. Assuming your prospect has your work ethic is as big a mistake as assuming the government is going to take care of you in your old age.

If you're putting an ounce of effort between your prospect and whatever it is you want to sell them, they're more likely to reach for that box of Twinkies sitting on their counter than anything else.

There is, however, one subtle but very powerful copywriting strategy you can use, to make "effortless effort" that much more of a reality for your buyer.

And here it is: Don't tell them what their product will do for them, tell 'em what your product does.

So for example, don't say:

"It'll make your tomato plant growing much easier."

Instead say... "It makes tomato plant growing much easier."

Not "You will look slimmer and more muscular." But... "After taking "Chubby No More" you will be slimmer and more muscular, perhaps for the first time in your life.

Don't say, "It will change your life."

Say "It changes your life, immediately. Imagine how much better you'll feel once all that back pain you're suffering from now, is gone?"

Make sense?

Eliminate "having to work" from your equation, and watch your sales spike!

Yes it's a sad reflection of the world today, but hey... if everyone was such a go-getter, then you and I wouldn't have anything to do, now would we?

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. The answer is simple.

"Just tell 'em what they want to hear."

Here's the deal: If you're like most entrepreneurs I know, you probably spend incredible amounts of time trying to be the best at whatever it is you do.

The time, effort, commitment and passion it takes to be the best, is absolutely overwhelming sometimes. Few people realize exactly how much success extracts out of you.

That's why I often say, "Success isn't for the weak or timid."

The problem is, what we think about most, is what we usually do. And what we do most is who we are. Unfortunately, this becomes a big marketing issue for most people.

See, your prospects aren't interested in what you do. They could care less how you spend your time and how long it took you to become a master "whatever."

When you go out and buy a CD off of iTunes, for example, you don't sit and consider which guitarist practiced harder, before you make your purchase, right?

Of course not.

All you think about is which one sounds better to you. Which one makes you feel whatever kind of mood you're looking to feel.

Right?

Do you ask your doctor what his grades were on his final exams, before you let him slice you open?

I don't think so.

And see, your prospects aren't interested in that about you, either. They're only interested in that same thing. They're interested in the benefits of what you do. They're interested in RESULTS.

They want to know, if they give you money, what are the results they can expect... how long will it take them to get these results... and how will their lives be different AFTER they give you money.

No one cares that you had to stay up all night long to finish making your batch of doughnuts, or your wicker furniture.

So often, I see marketers -- and especially copywriters or someone trying to pass themselves off as a copywriting expert -- talking about in their sales letter, how many books they've read or who's courses they took.

This is almost laughable. It's like telling someone in an online dating ad that you've tried on loads of different clothing at Nieman Marcus, so you'll be presentable when you go out on a date.

Who cares!

Remember, when you're selling, focus on results, benefits, and experiences. Not how long it took you to become the whiz-bang you are.

That was your choice and your problem, and you should never make your problems, someone else's problems. Especially your prospects.

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. Just finished December's year-end Seductive Selling Newsletter. That's just the nature of business and it's never going to change. Like family and health, some things are out of your control, no matter how much you try and take care of them.

Anyway, there's a very good book called The Science Of Getting Rich, which really allowed me to understand how the universe works and what our role is, in all these things I'm talking about.

It also allowed me, for the first time, to understand and appreciate what things like "success," and "competition," really mean. Because I was dead wrong about my thinking in both of these areas.

And unfortunately, not having a healthy perspective, held me back for far too long. Much longer than I deserved, and that in turn held my family back as well. They certainly didn't deserve that either, for sure.

I now have the rights to republish The Science Of Getting Rich, and in the forward of my published copy, I share a story with you about some of the darkest days I had to deal with, and how I managed to pull through them.

If the recession or business in general, has been disturbing you, I encourage you to get your hands on this book. I re-read it every year (usually around the holidays, as a matter of fact) simply because it helps get my head right, and it's so easy, you knock it off in one sitting.

It was the best 10 bucks I ever spent, and I'm betting it'll be the best $10 bucks you spend as well. So grab your copy right here, and remember, it's always darkest before the dawn:

http://www.kingofcopy.com/science

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. The story I share with you in the book, is 100% true, and if I managed to get through that, you too, can get through anything. In fact, here are five reasons why this ISN'T "just another copywriting seminar:"

1. For starters, everyone who attends this small and intimate event, is walking out of here with a completed ad or sales letter. Considering it would otherwise cost you $60,000 plus royalties to hire me outright, this is not only the best deal of the year for you, but it's the best deal of your entire lifetime!

2. Plenty of people can write copy. But NO ONE can write copy that compels readers at an emotional "gut" level, the way I do. And as you know, the fastest and surest way to get your prospects to buy, is by pushing their "emotional buy-buttons." This will be the fundamental focus of every strategy and subtle nuance we discuss at this workshop. Magic bullets that make people buy? We'll go over them. Special "hot" words that stop people dead in their tracks? I got 'em and I'll give 'em to you. Making your prospects well up with optimism and hope for a better tomorrow because of what you have to sell them? That's what selling is all about.

I'll take you by the hand and show you, step-by-step, exactly how to do this, by giving you an easy and systematic process to go through, so you wind up spending time only doing those things you NEED to do.

3. This is a ONE-TIME ONLY event! It is NOT a workshop I plan on running this year, and then next year, and then the next year again! With so many projects, new developments, and new businesses I'm working on, I thrive on change and on new challenges. This is a one-shot deal only, where I'm going to reveal all the behind the scenes secrets to writing clean, emotionally compelling sales copy that eliminates selling resistance.

4. I am going to show you how to take the "headache" out of writing sales copy, and the pain out of writing sales letters! And when you have a step-by-step systematic way of doing things, all you do is follow these steps in order, and then you're done. It's like going to the grocery store -- you look at your checklist: Do you need butter this week? Yep. How about milk? Sure, just ran out. How about cookies? Nope, not this week. With your sales copy checklist, writing winning sales letters and powerful ads is just as easy.

5. I will also, for the first time only, reveal the 15 most important secrets Gary Halbert taught me, when I worked with him back in 2003, that I’ve never revealed before, and do NOT plan on discussing again!

Look, this isn't an inexpensive event, but what's one good sales letter worth to you? For that matter, what's a lifetime of great sales letters worth to you?

When you look at the value you're getting, and the pain and suffering I've been through to get this information -- not to mention the results it's brought me -- heck, the ROI on this thing is probably higher than on any other investment you've ever made!

So if you're willing to shoot for the moon every once in a while... then you just may be in for the most thrilling ride... of your life! See you here in Tampa: http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S. You'll even discover when to introduce your goods and services in your sales letter, and maybe even more important -- when not to!

Get it all at http://www.kingofcopy.com/adwriting

See, most great ideas aren't really new ideas at all, they're just answers to questions. And the more successful the product, the more people were asking the question the product was the answer to.

Make sense?

Here, let's look at a couple of examples:

In the 1920's, several publishers were having a hard time selling books through mail order, at a profit. Customer acquisition costs were simply too high, and unless there was some kind of a huge back end product to offer, the business just didn't make sense.

If these companies could somehow sell multiple books for the same customer acquisition cost, then the business would make sense and be profitable.

So, Harry Scherman, an ad man from New York thought to himself, "Why not sell books on a monthly basis, like magazine subscriptions?" And with that idea, the Book Of The Month Club was born, as was their USP, "Don't miss the important new books you want to read."

See, Scherman asked the question, "How can we sell more books to the same customer so we can make a profit?"

And the answer to his question launched an empire.

How about this one: In 1913, James L. Kraft was a 29 year-old unemployed salesman who desperately needed to earn a living. So he began peddling cheese door to door, and he discovered a few things along the way.

For starters, the flavor of the cheese was inconsistent and unreliable, because the packaging was so poor and inadequate. Not to mention, it wasn't very clean and sanitary.

But while Kraft was making his deliveries, he took notice of the fact that the milk inside the bottles left on his customers front doors, somehow managed to stay well preserved, regardless of the temperatures outside.

So Kraft began tinkering with pasteurization and packaging, and within a year, he nailed the formula down so that the cheese he delivered was flavorful and consistent, as well as sanitary.

Last quarter alone, Kraft Foods did almost $10 Billion in sales.

But it all started with a question, "How can I sell fresher, and better quality cheese?"

Next time you're looking for inspiration, ask a question you need an answer to. And I mean that, literally.

Figure out the most pressing problems your customers have, and ask the question of yourself that will give you the solution to solve their problems.

Sit down with a yellow pad and a pen and write down the question at the top of the page. Don't have anything else going on in the background like e-mails or the television or whatever -- just you and your thoughts.

You'll be amazed at the answers you come up with once you put your mind to it, and... once you actually ask the right questions.

Because remember, only the right question... gets you the right answer.

Now go sell something, Craig Garber

P.S.
